Student Commendations in 2022
"It has been a pleasure to be taught by Sinan this semester. I believe that her impact on students stretches far beyond academia. Given this is a tough unit, Sinan was so supportive of all students and emphasised how we should prioritise our mental health in all situations. She showed her generosity through the competition which was funded purely by Sinan, and shows her passion for teaching and the better outcomes for students. Sinan's explanation of economic concepts was second to none, and really made things easy to understand when at times the lectures were jarring."
Max Prien from ECOS2901 Semester 1 2022
"Sinan was very knowledgeable about all areas of the content throughout the semester. I particularly commend her for her passion and energy in every class, always trying to engage the class. Sinan was very supportive and encouraging to students during a very tough subject and was always available to her students."
Andrew Mallos from ECOS2901 Semester 1 2022
"Sinan was very clear, efficient and passionate, and always tried her very best for the students. She has made this subject a lot easier from her knowledge and teaching skills. Also, she provided a lot of advice applicable for beyond the classroom, something I'm sure all the students will cherish."
Patrick Campbell from ECOS2901 Semester 1 2022
"She is really charismatic. This charisma comes from the competition held for improving our skill in financial time series and some sweet suggestions for time management for assignment."

Jingcan Liu from QBUS6830 Semester 1 2022

Roger Chen from ECOS2901 Semester 1 2022
"Sinan is energetic, enthusiastic and passionate. She is willing to help students inside and outside the class. Her teaching is clear, although the content is difficult for me to understand because of my personal limitations with mathematics, and the questions we asked were always answered in time. Sinan cares about her students and we can tell her passion in teaching."

"Sinan was a very engaging instructor who taught and inspired us. She went beyond the scope of the course to motivate us through stories of her experiences at university. Sinan is a very good instructor for someone studying honours who needs some motivation and needs a thorough understanding of confusing content."
James Tannock from ECOS2901 Semester 1 2022
"Her teaching style was easy to follow and paired well with the lectures. She provided great feedback throughout the semester relating to the unit's content. Sinan also provided valuable advice relating to studying economics in general, which I will definitely use in the future."
Madison Sherry from ECOS2901 Semester 1 2022
"I chose this unit because Sinan used to be my instructor. I have learned a lot from her teaching in her class. This course taught me the basic principles of the stock market and foreign exchange, and I even made some money through practical operations. This is different from working, which is the process of rolling profits through capital and knowledge, and has very great significance. And the sense of achievement is what this teacher brings to me, and I feel grateful for it. This course taught me a lot of economic calculation tools, and had a great influence on me in foreign exchange trading. I even earned some extra money through my own efforts, which made me feel really excited. Sinan is a great teacher and I don't see any room for improvement in this course. Because she's good enough! She respects every student's opinion and voice and is knowledgeable and generous."

"Sinan gives us the opportunity to learn from the professionals from large companies and relevant industry, which means we can get more knowledge and experience from actual business world. What's more, she added so many examples in the process of teaching, which makes us easier to understand the concepts and formulas."

"I think our lecturer Sinan is the best aspect of this unit. She is one of the best lecturers I met in USYD. I really enjoy her lecture and she can explain everything clearly. Also, I can feel that she's working hard and trying to let everyone learn the knowledge and use it in practice, which is really important. The assignment she designed is also a good practice of what we learned in class. Overall, I am really happy with her teaching. After I met Sinan, if there's any other course that she will be the lecturer, I will definitely go for that course."
